Baby Showers

The tradition of a baby shower is becoming more and more popular in Australia and is a way of helping prepare for the arrival of a new member of the family. Baby showers can be a simple "come on over and look at the nursery we've decorated" or they can be a fully staged party complete with games.
Some clever ideas for baby shower games include:
- ask every guest to bring a baby photo of themselves. These are then displayed without identification and guests have to guess who they are.
- Baby memory game - prepare a tray of baby items (eg: dummy, nappy pin, talc etc) about 10 items, on a tray and allow guests to see it for a few minutes. Remove tray and ask guests to remember what was on the tray.
- Baby changing game - using a baby doll with a nappy have guests compete to see who can change the baby fastest.
Gifts for a baby shower are often difficult to choose as the sex of the baby is not always known. Often useful items make the best gifts:
- a basket of essentials... nappy lotion, pins, talc,etc
- bags of disposable nappies in various sizes
- a few weeks of a nappy washing service
- basket of basics... singlets, bibs, bunny rugs
- linen... basinet sheets, cot sheets
